Most every small business owner has high expectations for their product. They are hopeful it will become a hot product. Unfortunately, very few products ever achieve that status. The chances for exception success improve significantly if the product is being marketed into a hot target market. In a hot target market, customers are actively and sometimes aggressively buying products in large numbers. This defines a "hot target market".

Examples of hot target markets are NASCAR souvenirs, high tech computer games, certain children's toys (e.g. Webkins), specific athletic shoes, designer jeans, and high definition television. Even with competition, participation in a hot target market generally can be very lucrative. Beware: some hot target markets are short-lived. For example beanie babies were hot at one time but no longer.

Principle #3: Identify And Study The Competition

Starting a new market where there is no competition sounds attractive. Generally, it's not. It's very difficult to create a new market. Customers are hesitant to buy products in a new market. Likewise, investors are very reluctant to invest in businesses in unestablished markets. If it's a new market or if there is no competition in the market, beware! The presence of competition is the sign of a healthy market that can stand to have multiple competitors.

Study the competition. Football team coaches spend countless hours studying game films of their upcoming competitors. They want to know their strengths and their weaknesses. They use that information to formulate a marketing strategy that will give them the best chance of competing and winning. That's a good model for the business world as well.

Practically everybody entering trading arena has one objective- to make money. While there are some people who trade for challenge or other "purist" reasons, they are decisive minority. For almost all traders, pulling money out of the markets is a primary motivation.

We have all seen TV infomercials that make it sound so easy. What you need to do is to attend some seminar, purchase a piece of software with some crossing lines or colorful arrows. Just follow these buy and sell signals and you are on your way to untold reaches.

Can it really be that simple?

Reality is quite different. There are statistics claiming that 90-95% of traders lose money. How accurate this number is, may be debatable, but what is not, is the fact that more people lose money than make it. These kind of statements often stress they apply to small speculators or beginner traders. This could be understandable. Most people get themselves into trading in a haphazard way. They don't commit enough time to education, follow questionable advice, luck discipline, are insufficiently funded. The list can go on.

Then there are professional traders. Money managers, hedge funds, bank traders, CTA's. How well do they do trading Forex? Logic would dictate this group of traders makes a lot of money. After all they employ best talent, have best market access, use sophisticated trading tools, have best trading terms, certainly are not under capitalized. In other words, these market participants are best positioned for consistent profitability. Strangely enough, that doesn't guarantee superior results.

Barclay, well known financial powerhouse, compiles Barclay's Currency Trader Index (CTI). Data for this index comprises of results from 114 managed money programs, both spot Forex and currency futures. Since 2000 there was only one year when this index gained more than 10%- 11.08% in 2003. Index suggests that money managers as a group have been losing money for last few years. In 2005 results were -1.21%, 2006 witnessed a loss of -0.12%. Returns for 2007 to date are not much more impressive, just 0.89% gain through August. The outlook for the rest of the year is no better. Other indexes tracking currency trading funds show similar results- marginal gains at best.

These results maybe shocking to many people. If the best positioned market participants can't achieve meaningful returns, is it possible at all to extract profits from Forex trading? What chance does a small speculator have if large players don't seem to get anywhere?

Well, smaller traders do have some advantages over large institutions. While every trader should create and stick to his trading plan, he/she is not bound by myriad of rules and limitations that institutional trader must adhere to. For one, leverage. Money managers are not allowed to use large leverage. They may be limited to how big percentage of total funds can put in any one market. Individual trader is not. Most importantly, perhaps, money management companies can not just cash out 100% and sit on the sidelines when things don't go right. Individuals have this luxury, which, at times, maybe the smartest thing to do.

With proper market education and solid trading plan, every market participant can be successful. Outside of extremely short term scalping, where institutions have an edge in cost of trading, disciplined and patient individual can be the one who makes money. On regular basis.

Can you easily make money with your blog? Yes, if you know how to blog and know what you're blogging about. Blogging for money is no different than marketing anything else. It's all about promoting, promoting, and more promoting.

As you create your blog, remember to include the keyword phrase in your blog title. Doing so ensures that the keyword phrase shows up within the tags of your blog. If your not sure, check the source code until you see what you want

Also, make sure that your blog url also reflects your keywords, and the first paragraph of your post mentions the keywords a number of times as this is what shows up in the description on the search engines.

The best way I have found to get backlinks and traffic to a blog is to submit articles to article sites such as goarticles and EzineArticles (also free) - there are many more. Compounding and leverage are the engine behind most people's wealth. I may be stating the obvious, but without these two tool's, you cannot grow any real wealth of substance. You may not be looking for wealth, you may just want a way to make some fast easy money, just to pay a bill or buy a car. That's fine, but any conversation about making some fast money is not complete without mentioning these tool's of compounding and leverage.

Once you have a unit of value, you must reproduce that value to create wealth. The unit of value is the actual business model...the "HOW" of your income. Most people would find this obvious, after all if you have the unit of value, if you do know how to make some fast easy money, any time you needed it, then of course your efforts would increase to try and re-produce that unit of value, by enlisting compounding and leverage by borrowing [money] to increase your return.

Leverage

This brings us to leverage. The meaning of financial leverage is profound. It is pure science, pure math. The formula is astounding and when you properly understand how leverage works, you really do begin to understand the mechanics of wealth and how it works. Exponential money generation is amazingly effective, so let me quickly outline for you the essence of leverage.

If you had a unit of value that cost $1 and you knew that each time you spent $1 you will get $2 back then your return is 100% That is an excellent unit of value, and anyone in this position would quickly want to apply as much capital as they have available to access this return.

But even such a fantastic return would take a certain amount of time to turn into real money. For example if your SOR (speed of return) is 1 month. In other words it takes a month to get that 100% return. Then it will take months and months to get to the point where any real life changing money can be had.

But what if we introduce leverage? What if we borrow money to access the returns of that unit of value. Say we borrow a dollar on top of our own dollar. Thats 2 dollar's and the return would be $4 give back the borrowed dollar and you are left with $3 which translates to a 200% return.

This is a simplistic example, but you can see from it the mechanics of leverage, the power of it to create much bigger compounders.

The Unit of Value

Now for the fun part. This is the actual idea. Now that I have prepared you for what you will do when you successfully make some fast easy money, we can look at a way to actually get that money. Again, the importance of compounding comes to the fore, because we are looking for automated ways of doing thing's. If your idea is not automated, then you start from scratch every day, but if there is the element of automation, you can ad to yesterday's work. You can multiply your efforts, simply because the time and effort you put forth yesterday and the day before is not gone, it is not lost, it is present and continues to bring you a return on top of the effort you put forth today.

So, with this in mind, we cast our eye to the Internet. The world wide web is essentially a massive vending machine, where user's generally serve themselves. No real human involvement is required to run an Internet endeavor.

The bottom line about building a unit of value is that you need a product or service. It's business and if there is one thing you can say about business, if you had to distill and boil it down, you would say to run a business you need a product or service.

That sounds like an awful lot of work doesn't it? Creating your own product?. Especially if you don't know even if it is going to work.If people will want to buy what you have to sell. R and D [research and development] is a costly undertaking and large corporations spend millions on a single product. But there is something you can do about that. They say if you can't beat them, then join them. So that is what I am suggesting...sell other people's product's.

Providing your return is very good, there are two main advantages to using other people's product's. Zero upfront cost's, and no customer service head aches. By the way, if you have been forced to buy other people's products in the past, like Amway and other's, you have made incorrect choices. A true vendor with a valuable product that truly wishes to find real wholesalers and retailers, will not want to insult a potential candidate by asking them to pay for product,

So your first step is to get a product or service to sell, then it is just a matter of assessing the return and rate of compounding. Finally, when you are really sure and confident of your unit of value, you can introduce leverage to hike up your compounding rate.
